Carey has been at the helm of Whitecastle Investments since 1989 and during that time has transitioned Whitecastle from a private family holding company into one of Canada’s more successful venture capital and private equity investors. He is a firm believer that you should always work with people you enjoy. As he notes "a good working relationship is not only more fun, it's more productive."

Carey is a hands-on investor and has broad Board of Directors experience with both public and private companies including Broadband Networks Inc., PC Docs Group International Inc., ImagicTV Inc., Loran Technologies International and Imris Inc.  He is also active with numerous charitable organizations. Carey is a member of the Board of Directors of the Sunnybrook and Health Sciences Centre and Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care and was past Treasurer of Kids Help Phone.

Carey holds a BA in Economics from the University of Western Ontario and a L.L.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School and is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada.
